National church shares LGBT+ History Month prayer by Open Table pioneer
This year the Methodist Church in Britain has shared a prayer for this month by Pam Gold, coordinator of the Methodist LGBT+ Solidarity Circle. Pam was the former Co-Convenor of the Evangelical Fellowship of Lesbian & Gay Christians and founder of two Open Table communities.
Two bishops visit Open Table communities this month

Crowdfunder brings promise of joy to LGBTQIA+ people this New Year
THANKS to 46 generous donors our Advent & Christmas Crowdfunder appeal raised more than £2,000! This was almost 82% of our £2,500 target. With these gifts, OTN can offer the #PromiseOfJoy to even more LGBTQIA+ people in 2024.
A queer-inclusive message for LGBTQ+ Christians this Christmas
CHRISTMAS can be a difficult time for LGBTQ+ folk, let alone queer Christians. This Christmas Eve, PinkNews has shared ‘a special queer-inclusive Christmas message for LGBTQ+ people’ from Revd Sarah Jones, vicar at St John The Baptist church in Cardiff, the first person transgender person to be ordained in the Church of England.
Prayers of Love & Faith for same-sex couples available from this Sunday
THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND House of Bishops has approved the trial of a selection of readings and prayers of thanksgiving, dedication and asking for God's blessing for same-sex couples this week. The resources, known as Prayers of Love and Faith [PLF], can now be used in Church of England services for the first time from Sunday 17th December 2023.

AS GENERAL SYNOD, the Church of England's governing body, met for an extraordinary meeting this month, representatives of 18 inclusive Christian organisations have released a statement welcome Synod’s decision to back a trial of special services asking for God’s blessing for same-sex couples.
Open Table founding member becomes charity's first director
KIERAN BOHAN is now Director of the Open Table Network (OTN). This is a change to how his role was previously described. Kieran became full-time coordinator of OTN in October 2020 and has been a key part of Open Table since its inception in 2008.
How to be a good Christian ally - New resource for progressive churches and communities
AS NATIONAL Christian traditions continue to argue over their stance on the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people, the Student Christian Movement (SCM) and OneBodyOneFaith have joined together to publish a resource for churches who want to grow not only as allies to LGBTQ+ people but also in their own faith too.
OTN Co-Chair begins training to become a Church of England priest
A NEW academic year is bringing new opportunities and challenges for one of OTN’s trustees, as she starts studying theology and ministry this term. Sarah Hobbs, Co-Chair of trustees of OTN, learned in June that the Church of England Diocese of Leeds recommended her for training in preparation for ordination as a priest, and she became an ordinand.
Human rights organisations urge PM: Respect the lives of LGBTQ+ and women migrants
MORE THAN 240 organisations supporting the human rights of refugees, women and LGBTQ+ people, including the Open Table Network, have written to the Prime Minister asking him to reaffirm the UK’s commitment to protect LGBTQ+ people and women around the world, following comments by Home Secretary Suella Braverman last week.
OTN Coordinator celebrates third fruitful year in full-time role
OCTOBER 1st marks the third anniversary of the Coordinator of the Open Table Network taking on the role full-time. Thanks to the success of our first major funding bid, Kieran Bohan began a six-month contract on this day in 2020. Further grants, plus one-off and regular donations, have enabled him to extend this until 2025.
Open To All: Different images of love on national tour
GOD’S LOVE for each of us - and all of us - is at the centre of a painting exhibition which is touring cathedrals and town centre churches. Fine artist and theologian Elizabeth Gray King will be showing 13 intriguing and affirming canvases, exploring the equality and inclusivity of God’s love, starting in St James’ United Reformed Church, Newcastle this week.

THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH (URC) has voted in support of a resolution to recognise the inherent worth of people with diverse gender identities, at the annual meeting of its governing body this month. Two of the three ministers who brought the proposal to the URC General Assembly support local Open Table communities.

AS GENERAL SYNOD, the Church of England's governing body, concluded on Tuesday, representatives of 18 inclusive Christian organisations published an open letter to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, in favour of ‘a Church of England in which it is possible for same-sex couples to marry in church’.
Buck up a bishop: EQUAL campaign calls for Anglicans to encourage senior CofE leaders
EQUAL: the Campaign for Equal Marriage in the Church of England, has renewed a call to action for LGBTQIA+ Anglicans and allies to write an encouraging card to their bishops to let them know that there are members of their dioceses who support the proposals of the Living In Love And Faith process on identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage, and want them to continue.
