OPEN TABLE CAMBRIDGE is delighted to welcome the Moderator of the United Reformed Church General Assembly, Revd Tim Meadows, to lead a special celebration of Communion.
The Moderator of General Assembly is the national figurehead for the denomination, representing the URC both internally and within the wider world. Revd Tim Meadows is the URC General Assembly Moderator for 2024-2025.
Tim comes from an Appalachian-mountain family in the USA. He grew up in a non-denominational congregational church, and was ordained as a minister the United Methodist Church in 1987.
In his first pastoral appointment, he supported children and families living with HIV/AIDS as well as providing pastoral care for the dying and bereaved, before accepting a call to begin a new congregation in Memphis, Tennessee, focussed on advocacy and providing a witness for peace and justice.
In 2010, he came to the UK to establish an ecumenical centre in Liverpool city centre, and served as a Chaplain to Merseyside Police. Since 2014 he has been minister of Allerton and St Stephen’s Wavertree in Mersey Synod. Nationally, he has served as a URC ecumenical representative to the Methodist Church and Church of England.
Tim and his partner Chris have been together for twenty-eight years, and married for thirteen. They have two adult children who live in the USA.
