We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.’
MORE THAN 80 LGBT+ affirming organisations have signed a statement in response to judges at the UK Supreme Court ruling that a woman is defined by biological sex under equalities law.
The ruling is the culmination of a long-running legal battle against the Scottish government which could have ‘widespread, harmful implications’ for the rights of trans, non-binary and intersex people across all four UK nations.

Coordinated by Consortium, a charity that supports not-for-profit LGBT+ organisations and groups, the statement notes the need for time to consider this ‘complex ruling’ but also notes that:
the Supreme Court reaffirmed that the Equality Act protects trans people against discrimination, based on Gender Reassignment, and will continue to do so.
