In the clear: Disciplinary against London priest dismissed

Fr Robert Thompson, the priest who leads the Open Table London community

Fr Robert Thompson, the priest who leads the Open Table community in West Hampstead, London.

A COMPLAINT against the leader of the Open Table London community has been dropped, according to the Church Times.

Revd Robert Thompson was accused of bullying the vicar of a neighbouring church when he acted as an advocate for a young woman ousted from a lay leadership position at that church, after she came out as a lesbian.

Father Robert’s church, St James’ West Hampstead, has hosted an Open Table community since October 2016. It has flourished under his guidance since he came to the parish in July 2018, and found new energy online in the past year. We are grateful for his passionate ministry with and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ people who find themselves marginalised or rejected by churches.
