Open Table London is continuing its series of special events for LGBT+ History Month with three lectures, as part of its commitment to the Church of England’s Living In Love & Faith process on Identity, Sexuality, Relationships & Marriage.

  • In the first lecture, Mark Chapman, Vice-Principal of Ripon College, Cuddesdon and Professor of the History of Modern Theology at the University of Oxford, spoke about ‘When the Church was ahead of Society: The 1950s and Wolfenden, Bailey and Montagu’.

  • In the second lecture, Robert Thompson, Vicar St Mary’s Kilburn and St James’ West Hampstead [home of the Open Table London community] will speak about ‘Homophobia, Racism and the Contemporary Mission of the Church of England: A Reflection from Pastoral Experience’. WATCH HERE [50 mins]

  • In the third lecture, Jane Shaw, Principal of Harris Manchester College, Professor of the History of Religion and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, will speak about ‘When the Church Fell Behind Society: from the 1980s to today’. WATCH HERE [50 mins]

The lectures are on Wednesday 10th, 17th and 24th February, 7.30-9pm on Zoom. The lecture will last 40-50 minute followed by Q&A. Book FREE on Eventbrite.
